16 April 2009  |  Black Eagles benefit from Silverstar’s Winning Spirit

Silverstar Casino has once again demonstrated their commitment to the local environment with an further donation of R15,000 to the Black Eagle Project Roodekrans.

The donation kicks of the casino's new promotion, the Winning Spirit. Running from the 22nd April to the 8th July 2009, the promotion has a unique twist that truly celebrates success. With R1 million up for grabs, any Strike It Rich member playing on any table or slot machine can be selected randomly between 6pm and 10pm on Wednesday draw nights. Seventeen winners will be selected every Wednesday and each winner will then have the opportunity to pass on some of the winning spirit by nominating two other Strike It Rich members playing on the floor who will then also win a cash prize each.

It's this spirit of winning and sharing that has enabled Silverstar to continue its support for the Black Eagle Project Roodekrans. Guests visiting the property use the water feature in the main entrance as a wishing well by throwing in their coins. Silverstar cleans out these coins regularly and then matches the amount of money that guests have contributed. The R15,000 donated in April represents the 3rd donation of this kind to the project.

Silverstar Casino was built on sound environmental principles and the developers consulted with the Black Eagle Project throughout the planning and construction of the complex. Every effort has been made to ensure that the casino will not pose a risk to the flight patterns or the natural habitat of the Black Eagles of Roodekrans.

"We are very pleased to be able so share some of our success with the Black Eagles Project and always appreciate the opportunity to support our community and our environment" said Mike Vermaak, General Manager of Silverstar Casino.

Silverstar Casino not only hosted the annual PRISA (Public Relations Institute of South Africa) PRISM awards on Tuesday, 31st March 2009; they also won a Silver PRISM for their launch PR campaign.

The entry was submitted by Silverstar's PR agency, Atmosphere Communications. Atmosphere's launch campaign for Silverstar Casino helped to provide impetus and credibility to this new venue and firmly positioned it as 'the new hotspot' for gaming and leisure in Gauteng.

The intense media engagement programme, which included extensive brand activations and events, generated impressive results and ably overcame the challenges. In the six months from December 2007 to May 2008, 65 pieces of positive coverage were secured and Silverstar Casino was truly on the map.

Between the first phase in December 2007 and the end of May 2008, Silverstar Casino welcomed over 800 000 guests and over 40 000 people (more than double the 15 000 target) had signed up for the 'Strike It Rich' loyalty programme.

The PRISM award recognised both Silverstar Casino and Atmosphere for their PR creativity and execution throughout the launch period. The award is further proof that Silverstar is 'Not the Usual'.
